I walk around outside feeling the fresh air, I close my eyes and listen to the sounds around me…
I find a place alone…
I ask my Healer, “Why do I hurt? What is the wound in me that has been touched?”
I know that when I’m hurting, a wound in me has been touched. It may be something that someone said or even just a look…
Sometimes it may seem to just come from nowhere, but every cell of my being remembers and when something happens… anything… I can hurt again.
And when I ask Him, He never lets me down. The last time I asked Him, He said, “It is because there is this wounded place in you that you have not let me heal…”
“Show me…”
“Why are you angry?” He asked.
“Well it seems as though I’m thinking, ‘I have to do everything myself!’”
“Do you?”
“No, not really?”
“So where does that come from?”
As soon as that thought, “I have to do everything myself.” Came out of my mouth, I knew where it came from.
I instantly recalled my childhood abandonment. With my mother never home, I had to do… everything myself. There it was, an abandonment wound. And after so many years… I thought that it was healed…
I confessed to my Healer the lie I found. “I felt unloved because I had to do everything myself and I had no mother to help me!”
Then I handed the lie over to Him. “Here Jesus, I give you this lie that lives in a wound in my soul.”
“Now Holy Spirit… come and pour your healing Presence into my wounded place. Fill my wound with the very essence of you. You are the healing ointment to my brokenness.
And in that moment I felt surrounded by His love embrace… comforted as His presence flooded me with Himself.
And Father… Please speak to me a healing word, a revelation that replaces that lie in the core of my being.
It didn’t take very long at all… The Word from His Word… Spoken into my being… Speaking life… Breathing life… Replacing the lie… Healing the wound… Setting me free…
This is what to do when you are hurting…
The Five Wholeness Steps
Step 2: REVEAL the Lie
Reveal it by confessing the lie. It is there ruling you in your emotions, thoughts and behavior so own it. 1 John 1:9 says that if we confess our sins (our lies, faulty negative, toxic, kingdom of darkness thinking), he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. He already knows that it is there. He wants us to admit it to ourselves and stop lying to ourselves and covering it up. Confession starts the cleansing of the wound where the lie lives.

Step 3: RELEASE it to Jesus
2 Corinthians 10:4-5 says to demolish our strongholds of thinking by handing over to Jesus every thought that is in opposition to the knowledge of God. The lies deep within our souls are our negative self-judgments that are not in agreement with what God declares about us in his Word. Take authority over them like a policeman takes authority over a suspicious person. Say, “Stop in the name of Jesus.” Take authority like the policeman telling the suspect to “assume the position.” Put it in a submissive position. Search and Interrogate. Ask, “Where is this thought from?” There are three sources of our thoughts, the enemy, the Holy Spirit and ourselves. Most of the time we want to blame the enemy for our thought life when they are really our own thoughts. Then handcuff that suspicious thought and hand it over to the authority, Jesus.

Step 4: RESTORE God's Presence
Invite the Holy Spirit to heal the wound. The Holy Spirit is the one who comforts. He manifests the presence and essence of God. God’s essence is love (1 John 4:16) and His presence and essence is the supernatural component as we ask, allow and accept His Healing into the wounded place. Let Him flood your being with healing love. Allow His love into your wounds.

Step 5: REQUEST a Revelation
Ask Father to speak a revelation of His truth to replace the lie. By a revelation we received a lie into a wound. In the previous steps we’ve identified the wound, cleansed the wound by confession and removed the foreign object by handing it over to Jesus. We invited the Holy Spirit to pour the ointment of the Presence of God’s healing Essence. And now the wound needs to be packed with his Truth. God will always speak into you a word from the Word, a truth to replace the lie. Also, speak and declare over yourself God’s truth about you from His Word. Mix the power from the Word of God with the power of your words to remove the curse of the lie. Remember, life and death is in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). So speak life.

If you are injured and have a physical wound on your body, you would apply first aid. Your soul has wounds that you’ve carried all your life. Stuff happens that triggers the pain of those wounds. Normally we just automatically go into coping behaviors to attempt to protect, comfort or fix ourselves. Instead of managing your wounds, try letting Him heal them.
Jesus said in Luke 4:18
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,”
